CROWN CORNELION is by the International Show Jumping stallion NOVILHEIRO, who
has been brought back by his breeders to form a dynasty of showjumpers in Portugal.
NOVILHEIRO, who was owned and showjumped by John Whitaker, won at the
International, Dublin, Wembley, Toronto, Amsterdam, Brussels, Hickstead and many more
to the tune of £30,000, and went from Foxhunter to Grade A in one season.
CROWN CORNELION's dam is the Supreme Champion mare CROWN AQUAMARINE
by Quality Fair who was Champion at every stage of her life, in-hand, under saddle
(Champion 4 year old at the Royal). She is also the dam of the International Grand Prix
Dressage stallion CALDENE CROWN MARCASITE by AKKORD,
CROWN AQUAMARINE is a full sister to CROWN GOLD (Intermediate Event Stallion),
CROWN EMERALD (Lloyds Bank Qualifier), CROWN CAIRNGORM (Grade A Show
jumper), CROWN DOLOMITE (Stallion) by IRMINO and CROWN SERPENTINE
(Stallion) by EXTRA.
CROWN CORNELION is a big, quality and impressive stallion who was originally schooled
by John Whitaker (who owned NOVILHEIRO and retains some of his stock) and has won at
all levels and is now a Grade A.
He is a tough, sound horse with a huge jump and can turn on a sixpence, being by the
Lusitano NOVILHEIRO, who comes from the best bull fighting family in Portugal, they
have to have speed, agility, soundness and quick brains to survive! All these virtues being the
essential ingredients in the make-up of a successful showjumper. Look at his sires
achievements. At the Lusitano Grading, CROWN CORNELION won the highest points ever
awarded to any horse in this country. He is the sire of the outstanding eventer
THE TOURMALINE ROSE, who has an astronomical jump and became Advanced at the
age of 6! She is ridden by Pippa Funnell. Also LOVE SHACK who qualified for Hicksted,
ridden by Mark Bowden. CROWN CORNELION is competing very successfully in the Open
