Breeding Profile
Argentinus (Argentan I / Dorle by Duden II) Arko’s sire the multi-graded Hannoverian stallion ARGENTINUS is acknowledged to be the best son of his sire Argentan and has already sired over 400 showjumpers and 190 dressage horses in Germany alone as well as 27 graded sons world wide. His progeny have won over £750,000 in completion to date and through his offspring such as AEGON's Autogramme, Anka, Fursa, A-Dur (a very popular stallion in Scandinavia), Argentino, Gigowatt Asmodina and Albatros he is currently ranked 18th in the world as a sire of international showjumpers and 22nd over the total of the past 10 years. He is almost equally successful as a dressage sire, with the top international performers Nissan Amaretto, Albano, Aleppo-S and Aristocrat to his name. His breeding indices for both dressage and showjumping reflect this success, earning him outstanding lifetime highs of 148 in dressage, 138 in showjumping and 142 overall.
Argentan (Absatz/ Worms by Wohler) ARGENTAN was one of the last sons of the fabulous Absatz to stand at stud. which he did from 1969 to 1996. In that time he sired over 2000 foals including 332 dressage horses, 414 showjumpers, 132 State Premium mares and 22 graded stallion sons. Hi best known progeny include the showjumping World Cup winner Aramis and the popular stallions Airport (sire of Amerigo Vespucci and Adagio), Aktuell (sire of the international dressage horses. Akasie, Antar and Al Martino and Allegro (sire of the popular dressage mare Alouette Machol and the well-known stallions Diamond and Baron B). Together these progeny gained him winnings over £650,000 at a time when prize money was far less generous than it is today.
The presence of the D line (famous for such top performers as Dollar Girl, Deister and Demonstrator) through Duden II and the Wohler branch of the F/W line (from which come the many outstandingly successful dressage horses of the Woermann / World Cup and Weltmeyer line), reinforces even more the athleticism, versatility and suitability of this pedigree for all equestrian sport.
Unika (by Beach Boy) Arko’s dam, the Oldenburg mare Unika adds further top class proven bloodlines at every level.
Her sire the much-travelled Dutch-bred Oldenburg stallion Beach Boy (Nurzeus / Sefane by Lucky Boy XX) has been incorporated into the breeding programme of the Swedish State Stud at Flyinge as a source of top class showjumping talent and this is a reflection of both his superb pedigree an s his own success as a sire. His 8 graded sons are already making a name for themselves at stud and his own progeny includes the 1991 Oldenburg performance test champion Brandenburger, the international showjumper Beach Game and the international eventers Beach Star and Feldschwalbe. These results are enabling him to come ever closer to fulfilling the promise shown by his initial showjumping BLUP of 13O despite standing for most of his stud career in a country noted more for its dressage breeding than its showjumpers.
The internationally important Selle François stallion Nurzeus and the influential KWPN-graded Thoroughbred stallion Lucky Boy XX feature prominently in Beach Boy’s own pedigree, thus relating him closely to many top performers. Nurzeus has sired winners of over £1,400,000 to date and his progeny include Midnight Madness, Virtual Village Zalza, Nissan Zandor Z, Heatwave and Lonesome Dove in showjumping and Anouk in international showjumping and thus he ranks 7th as a sire of international showjumpers for the years 1990 to 1999, while Lucky Boy XX has the international showjumpers The Freak, Victor, Titan, Bonheur, Windsor and Optibeurs Texas, the international dressage horse Dutch Treat and the international eventers Hi-Interest to his name as well as 27 graded sons including Naturel, Octrooi, Derrick and Dutch Boy. Lucky Boy XX is also notable as a broodmare sire and appears in the dam’s side of over 50 further stallions including Elcaro, Rolex, Wellington, Dramino, Hattrick and Vechta. |
